Christmas present for YOU at the end!

On Christmas Eve most people spend time with their families and getting ready for the big day. However, savvy travelers do travel regardless of the day so we hopped on a flight to Vienna for no apparent reason (except for the authentic Austrian chocolates at the Senator's lounge which are too good to be ignored!!)

So, what happened during this flight was as expected from the quality of Austrian Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance. Excellent service, starting at the Business class lounge in London Heathrow (First-Class lounge can be accessed by Star Alliance Gold member), priority boarding was well followed, and the empty middle seat in European Business-Class. As it was a 6 am flight, breakfast and coffee were served as shown below which was delicious. The only downside of this flight is the usual delays of the early flights at Heathrow but on the upside, you can arrive at your destination by 9 am and have a full day to spend.

How did we book?

The fare difference was $15 from Economy which is ridiculously stupid to not book in business as just the 2x32Kg luggage allowance and DO&CO meal served is worth over $100. The reason we didn't use miles is that during Christmas most airlines block the availability of reward flights and even us, the travel hackers have to pay in cash and aim for decent miles earning.

We credited these miles to Aegean Airlines earning 750 award and tier miles as it was a Business Saver fare and didn't earn the usual 2000+ award miles of a full fare ticket.
